Play Time
As we get older, we face endless challenges, take on more responsibilities and find anxiety taking over us as we plan to stabilize our future. If only we can press a pause button for us to take a break from it all and just face it when we have the mental capacity to continue.
Funny enough, when we’re kids we do everything to prove to everyone that we’re grown up enough. Our dreams and imagination made us believe that anything and everything is possible (well at least the young Justine would). It is in this time we are in the most purest form we will ever be, where we were not afraid of being ourselves and showed the world who we were without pleasing it. We only focused on what we wanted to make ourselves happy.
Let our imagination and dreams be our escape .
This year I plan to go back to who I was at my purest form as a kid and revive my forgotten passions that made me smile. As an introverted kid, my escape from the world would always be through art in drawing, writing, music, piano, baking, photography and even excelling in different sports. Looking back at everything, I realized I slowly left behind all the things I loved to do and replaced it with things I needed to do and what was expected of me full time.
There comes a time you eventually get burnt out, and to tell you the truth that was me. This year 2020, I plan to find balance in responsibilities and time for play. Getting back to what I used to love and enjoy made me realize that my strengths are brought out through my passions, leveling balance back in to life.
Continue to keep that mindset that anything is possible in efforts to make what we dreamed of and imagined for ourselves and as a kid alive. Take a look at an old childhood photo of you, and think about making everything that kid dreamed of come true right now, they’ll thank you later.
